Calculate Your Body Mass Index (BMI)

Body mass index (BMI) is a calculation used to determine a person’s body fat measure. It is often used to determine whether a patient is at risk of developing cardiovascular disease; or other medical conditions.
To calculate BMI, simply divide your weight (in pounds) by your height (in inches, squared), then multiply by 703. Or use this handy calculator:

The following are generally acceptable classifications of BMI scores:
- Under 18.5 = underweight
- 5 to 24.9 = healthy weight range
- 25 to 29.9 = overweight
- 30 or greater = obese
